Apply for event support
If you would like to apply for event support, which includes financial transfers, City services or City venues from the City of Cape Town you will need to submit an application to the City’s Events Office.
How to apply for event support
Please note
To ensure that your application is considered timeously, ensure that you send your application at least three months prior to your event.
The City of Cape Town uses the following criteria when considering support for your event:
- A high number of visitors will be attracted to Cape Town due to the hosting of the event.
- National and international media show a large amount of interest in the event.
- The hosting of the event supports the City’s facilities.
- Trading opportunities for local traders will be created by the event.
- The event will create opportunities for local suppliers.
- The hosting of the event will address seasonality in the City’s events calendar.
- Responsible tourism and sustainable living practices will be applied during the event.
- The event will apply event greening principles.
- Job opportunities will be created as a result of the event.
- The event will create access for communities and assist with social integration.
- A positive economic, social and environmental impact due to the hosting of the event.
Step 1: Gather all the correct supporting information before you begin the process and ensure you are able to complete the Event Support Application Form, found in the document downloads below.
Supporting information you will need:
- type of event
- nature of support required - financial, non-financial or both
- address of the proposed venue
- number of participants
- an event plan
- how the event links to the City’s five IDP outcomes
Step 2: Contact the Events Office by emailing events.applications@capetown.gov.za for information about the procedure for getting support for your event.
Step 3: Once you have found out all the necessary details, and completed the relevant steps, you can email your application to events.applications@capetown.gov.za.
